Comox Valley Naturalists Society
2009 Annual General Meeting and Members Night.

The regular monthly meeting of the Comox Valley Naturalists Society will be held February 15, 2009, at 7:00 pm at the Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay. This will consist of our annual General Meeting which will include the election of the Executive Committee. There will also be three short presentations by our members. These presentations will precede the meeting. The general public is welcome.
The first of these presentations will be “THROUGH THE YEAR” by Father Charles Brandt. This is a pictorial study of Comox Valley locations, and how they change seasonally.

The second presentation will be “A TRIBUTE TO BERT MARRIOTT” by Barb Parker. Among many other things, Bert was instrumental during the 1960’s with the creation of the bird sanctuary at Radford Swamp. This later became an integral part of the Northeast Woods – Lazo Marsh Conservation Area.

The third presentation is “PACIFIC RIM PARK” by Dave Ingram. Dave worked for two summers with Parks Canada at Pacific Rim; his photographs highlight some of the unique ecosystems that are protected by this National Park reserve.

Please come and join us to become better informed, and how you can help CVNS provide education and protection for B.C.’s natural environment.

Meetings of the Comox Valley Naturalists Society are held on the third Sunday of most months at the Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton, Courtenay. Meetings are open to the public, including youth. A donation of $2.00 is suggested for non-members, and new memberships are always welcomed. Meetings are not held in December, July, and August. The CVNS March presentation will be: Mar. 15, 2009, the film “DIGGING WATER” of the 2008 David Thompson Canoe Brigade’s 4000 km. trip following the explorer’s route. Our April 19 presentation will be by Ruby Berry of Georgia Strait Alliance, and will examine “FISH FARMING”.
