North Island folks are somewhat twee
about the news from sea to sea
because we're CBC - denied
since their antenna burned and died.
With old TVs and rabbit ears
there's only Global's rants and tears.
And no relief 'till 2011
when digital manna drops from heaven.
But wait a 'mo, aren't we the folks
who pay our taxes for this joke?
What does our broadcaster now say
(and where's our precious MLA?).
It seems a 'difficult decision' rose
from facts 'upon the ground', you know.
The old antenna's frankly toast
and Texada would cost the most.
'Not worth it' said the corporate whine
as they politely let decline
this service for the thousand 'few'
- who by the way, elected 'blue'.
Our old/new MP's silent John
The guy who disappears to fawn
in Ottawa, is silent now
away from his constituent's howls.
So advertisers - do you know
that you are short-changed on the blow
from CBC TV's bright ads?
Demand a discount - or your bad!
And meanwhile we unfortunate 'few'
who love our real Canadian news
(not the feeds from CNN
or through the 'info-tainment' lens)
must now resign to broadcast night
or pay for Shaw or satellite.
So what to do? We'll make a noise
remind our airy national boy
that his seat is not too firm
in this fair land - again he'll learn,
that grievances turn voter's heads
- And votes go orange, green - or red!
