I have received quite a few phone calls asking me about my car warranty. Since I don't have a car under warranty I know this is a phishing expedition (automatic phone dialing and a recorded message) by a company trying to get me to buy something. One response for every 1000 calls may be quite satisfactory for the fraud outfit!!~
WHAT options do you have IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU?
1. CALL 1 866 580 3625 AND GET PUT ON THE "DO NOT CALL" LIST, which is a CRTC offering to try to protect the 'great unwashed canadian public.' (that's us!)
2. Call 1 888 495 8501 which is an agency of the RCMP and the OPP (Ontario prov police) also working on telephone abuse and fraud, and report any experiences you have had.
3. Do nothing and let the rain of unwanted and time-wasting, calls continue.
4. Save money by disconnecting your phone and surprise people with a visit and tea, instead of calling.
