The Cumberland Light Up Cavalcade is a regular feature an exciting winter celebration held early December each year.

This year's event was witnessed by over 2500 people in downtown Cumberland. Free hot dogs and hot chocolate were served at Village Square, along with Christmas carols and a visit from Santa Claus.

Prizes for best lit buildings and trucks were awarded as follows with several prize winners donating their winnings to various local charities :

Residential
First - Dennis Joyal, $1,000
Second - Michael and Lonnie Fourneau
Third - Judy and Jim Gibson

Business
Alley Cuts/Tickle Trunk, $1,000

Industrial
Tayco Paving, $1,000

Cavalcade
First - Cumberland Ready Mix, $1,000
Second - Dove Creek Timber, $500
Third - K & T Trucking, $250

Grand Prize
Union Square Residents, $1,000

Money for the prizes was donated by Trilogy ($3,000), Ulverston Station ($1, 500) Upland Excavating, Nelson Roofing, Slegg Lumber and Cumberland Ready Mix ($500 each).
