Lakes in Canada are quietly being reclassified as toxic dumpsites for mining corporations through “schedule 2,” a loophole added to the Fisheries Act’s regulation on mining waste. John Baird’s office has signed off on the destruction of four lakes so far and many more are likely to face the same fate. Yet when the question was raised at an all-candidates’ debate a few weeks ago, Baird claimed he knew nothing about it. Join us as we refresh John Baird’s memory on his policy to destroy Canada’s lakes.
