A heavy equipment fire early Sunday morning on land cleared for development in Cumberland's North West sector completely demolished a large excavator.
A plume of toxic smoke billowed into the clear morning air for most of an hour as Cumberland Fire Department cleared away huge boulders blocking access to the area. Once on the scene, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.
At present, cause of the fire is unknown. Police are investigating.
