Dear Friends,
On Sat., Feb. 9 from 1 to 3 P.M. in the Florence Filberg upper Conference Hall, the Council of Canadians is co-hosting a Forum on the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) along with our MP, Catherine Bell. Peter Julien, an MP from New Westminster, has been going across Canada talking about this issue and he'll be the keynote speaker. Murray Dobbin will also be on the panel. Catherine will chair the meeting and John Camp, the CoC Chair, will be on the panel, too.
Amnesty International will have a table. We'd like to invite Project Watershed, BCSEA, the Environmental Council, the C.V. Water Watch and the World Community also to have tables.
This SPP has broad implications for Canada as a country, for all of our provinces and, as well, the BC-Alberta proposed TILMA regulations will tie in with it. Thus, even municipal powers will be under threat.
We hope that you will want to come and be part of this important afternoon event. Please let me know if you do.
Cheers,
Gwyn Frayne
