This has been happening in my back yard for the last 7 months. Five days/ week, ten hours/ day.... Each day we awaken to the sound of numerous machines - pounding, drilling, rock-crushing, jackhammering, blasting, scraping, digging, defacing, assaulting what was once a beautiful forest backdrop for the Isolation House built here in 1898... in a matter of months 125 taupe or grey vinyl-sided boxes that are almost as large as each lot will replace the tall windy firs and cedars, salal, moss, oregon grape, swordferns, chanterelles and thousands of creatures who lived here peacefully.... and the village planners have told me to feel thankful... !
