A hundred years ago this month, the town of Cumberland was going through some crisp winter weather, "during which the glass sunk on several night to zero". Before rain and warm winds broke the cold snap and melted the snow, many had enjoyed sleighing parties while other left with burst water pipes, keeping the local plumbers busy.
