Hi Dwayne:
In going through my records for background on Joe Naylor I came across the short speech by Hetty Launchbury of Knaresborough, Yorkshire, given at Cumberland Cemetery on behalf of Goodwin family members at Miners' Memorial Day on June 19, 2004 - I pass it along for your consideration for posting on The Cumberlander website.

FAMILY TRIBUTE TO GINGER GOODWIN
"My legs feel like jelly and my heart is playing ping-pong.
"I have been delegated to represent the Goodwin family most of whom live in England.
"We are all very proud of Uncle Albert and what he achieved in his short life.
"He fought not with guns but with hard work and determination to make a better life, not just for himself but for all his fellow workers.
"We all know it is because of people like Albert, Ginger Goodwin, that we ourselves enjoy a happier, more comfortable lifestyle.
"It is right and proper that the memory of their struggles should be recorded and celebrated to inspire future generations to do their part in making life on earth a peaceful, happy and enjoyable existence.
"God bless you Uncle Albert for your laboured efforts in making this world a better place for all of us.
"Last of all I would like to thank all of you for being here today for the honour and prestige you have bestowed upon my Uncle Albert - Ginger Goodwin.
"Thank you."
