"Big Joe" Naylor (right) was a third generation miner from Yorkshire, England. Joe was actually a President of the BC Federation of Labour and got his best friend and fishing buddy "Ginger" involved when they were both in Cumberland. "Ginger's" gravesite is in the Cumberland Municipal Cemetery. This oil painting by Cumberland artist Teresa Wild has been donated to the Cumberland Artist's Walk,
a joint fundraising project for "Dancing In The Coal Dust", Cumberland Community Forest and the Cumberland Museum.
The painting is one of 10 oil paintings and one Giclee'print donated to the Artist's Walk project. Over the summer, they will be on display at The Cumberland Museum, Tarbell's Coffee Gallery and the Cumberland Credit Union. They will be auctioned off on September 1 at the Cumberland United Church and online here on The Cumberlander.
