Restore Ginger signage

Dear editor,
We were pleased to read in last week’s Record that Jeff Hyslop obtained funding for the Ginger Goodwin musical under the Cultural Capitals of Canada grants. It was especially gratifying to read that someone like Mr. Hyslop could see the universal and international appeal of putting Ginger Goodwin’s story on stage.
But on reading the insert in the article on Ginger’s life story, I found it rather ironic that the name of the Dominion Police deputy who shot Mr. Goodwin was Campbell … and, wasn’t it one of Premier Campbell’s ministries that quietly removed the Ginger Goodwin Way highway signs shortly after they were elected?
Do you think it might be possible to have these highway signs reinstalled with a similar grant, and at the same time as the musical is launched?
It would go a long way to making this story not just a universal, international one, but a very satisfying local one as well.
