Union Bay - In a recent B.C. Supreme Court Affidavit in the Alan De Jersey et al and UBID defamation case no. S-107671 against Mary Reynolds, UBID Trustee Alan De Jersey states under oath that the character on the right in the above cartoon created by Mary Reynolds was himself.

De Jersey supports his statement that the cartoon character is himself by saying "the name 'AL' appears on the mid-body..." and "this cartoon figure appears to be wearing a 'Harley Davidson' belt buckle", confirming that he owns a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

This is a serious allegation since it is the basis on which UBID Trustee de Jersey claims in his testimony that Mary Reynolds has breached the Consent Order which was originally filed by UBID and the additional Plaintiffs Alan De Jersey, David Godfrey, Denis Royer, David McDowell, James Smith, Debora McMahon also known as Debbie Prowse, Brenda Fisher and Gloria Royer.

In my previous submission to "The Cumberlander" dated May 18th, I concluded that the cartoon character on the right was clearly none other than Ralph Wiggum of the long-running "The Simpsons" cartoon series.

Well, I stand corrected - it now looks that I was only 50% right!

In the newest Court Affidavit listed on the Court Registry for Case S-107671, the truth is exposed as follows: the cartoon character on the right with the Harley Davidson belt buckle is a reference to someone named Brian Baker.

Here is a quote from "Factual Basis" of the Application Response (Document #53) filed by the Defence on May 25, 2011:

"The cartoon figure, which seems to be at the heart of the application for contempt, does not depict Alan de Jersey. The figure is 'Ralph Wiggum' from the animated sitcom 'The Simpsons'. The figure is wearing a sweater that visibly shows the letters 'RAL', which are the first three letters of the name 'Ralph'. The sweater does not say 'AL'. Moreover, the Harley-Davidson reference is to a blogger believed to be Brian Baker who has vigorously attacked the defendant (and defended Mr. De Jersey) on his blog at www.maryreynoldsunionbay.blogspot.com. The Harley-Davidson logo features prominently in Mr. Baker's blog."

Over the past year, many people in the community have remarked that there is someone on the internet who is impersonating Mary Reynolds with a blog called "Mary Reynolds Union Bay". Google-searchers looking for Ms. Reynolds' blog are often lured to this blog only to find out that it is an "anti-Mary Reynolds" blog.

Is Brian Baker the identity of this blogger on the www.maryreynoldsunionbay.blogspot.com? That is what this latest Application Response affirms.

Now let's get right to the X-Rated information about this blog which has been submitted to the Court in an Affidavit dated March 25, 2011.

According to that Affidavit, on January 11, 2011 the Blogger, now identified as Brian Baker, wrote, "Mary Reynolds is back, like an ugly wart or even better a hemorrhold [sic]. Somebody come up with something to get rid of her QUICK. Her ex husband calls her a parasite so maybe a pesticide might work!!!! On another subject ever notice how she looks just like her dog or is it the other way around or even the other end of the dog."

Blogger Brian Baker now becomes what I term "the X-Rated Blogger" on the maryreynoldsunionbay site with a posting on January 24, 2011 as follows:

"Mary...I like posting your comments as people can read what a c* you really are. Sorry, it was an old wrinkled C**."
(Note: The "c-word" is spelled out in the document. I have added asterisks since I'm a bit old-fashioned and prefer not to spell out the "c-word", even when quoting someone else.)

Several pages of this X-rated blog can be viewed in their entirety including graphic language on the Union Bay News Now blog at http://unionbaynewsnow.blogspot.com/2011/06/affidavit-response-cartoon-may-25-2011.html

It is very intriguing to see on Page Three of the last weblink that this blogger (identified as Brian Baker) vigorously defends Alan De Jersey stating "Alan De jersey is an honourable man. He is doing what is best for Union Bay as a whole, not for just on [sic] person . no names need mentioning do they Mary".

The question which immediately occurs to me is as follows:
Just why does this X-Rated Blogger Brian Baker go out on a limb to defend De Jersey's character and what is the connection between Baker and De Jersey?

I turned to my best friend "Mr. Google" and began a few hours of internet sleuthing.

A google search came up with a Petition entitled "Stop Multi Family Zoning-Published by Lynn" containing just six signatures as follows:

"Lynn Hempinski of Comox"
"Anne Timberley of Waterloo, Ontario"
"Anonymous"
"Anonymous"
"Alan De Jersey of Courtenay" and
"Bryan Baker of Comox",

See Attachment below entitled "Petition-De Jersey/Baker/Hempinski" to view a copy of the actual on-line document.

With a bit more investigation in our local papers, the name "Lynn Hempinski-Baker" comes up in direct connection to Alan De Jersey in an article entitled "Cumberland Rotary helps feral cats" and an accompanying photo of De Jersey and Hempinski-Baker. (See attachment below entitled "De Jersey-Hempinski-Baker" for complete story and photo in the ECHO.)

The photo caption of De Jersey/Hempinski-Baker is as follows:
"Lynn Hempinski-Baker accepted donations from individual Cumberland Rotarians and a cheque for $200 from club president Alan deJersey for the Prevent A Litter Society ["Kitty Cat PALS"] that manages feral cats in the Comox Valley".

It would be logical to conclude that Lynn Hempinski-Baker (the same as "Lynn Hempinski of Comox" on the Petition which also lists "Bryan Baker of Comox" as a signatory) is Bryan Baker's wife. (Note to Reader: from now on I'll use the spelling of Bryan Baker's name as "Bryan" instead of "Brian".)

Another clue: there is a reference on the Bryan Baker blog asking Mary Reynolds to make a donation to "Kitty Cat PALS" (Lynn Hempinski-Baker's charity), thus further making the case of a direct connection between Bryan Baker and Alan de Jersey through Lynn Hempinski-Baker.

The degree of the relationship between UBID Trustee Alan de Jersey and X-rated Blogger Bryan Baker is unknown. But I believe that these details show a direct link between these two individuals.

What is certain for the community of Union Bay is that the legal action in BC Supreme Court to determine such issues as whether Ralph Wiggum is Alan De Jersey or an X-rated blogger named Bryan Brown is proving to be very costly. It may take as much as $250,000 in taxpayer monies for the Courts to figure out this question. But by golly, some day we'll get to the bottom of it all, and the real facts of the UBID defamation case against Mary Reynolds will be revealed!

I just hope UBID doesn't go bankrupt in the meantime.
