"Options ranged from closing the Campbell River landfill and expanding the Cumberland facility, to closing all existing landfills and building one new facility somewhere in between Campbell River and Courtenay."

Cumberland really is the perfect place for the mega dump. The citizens enjoy the dump smells, large trucks tearing up the roads, seagulls dropping plastic gloves and garbage into the drinking water source for a lot of people, the big bear kill that we got to live through and being good neighbours who really want more garbage. Sewage composting and Hazco just add to the ambience of the place. How about not making Cumberland your out of sight, out of mind option for Campbell River's garbage. That goes to the rest of the Comox valley too. Plan ahead and don't look our way.
Buy less.....waste less.

And in more thrilling news for our residents:

"Ladysmith wants to flush some of its toilet waste north to the Comox Valley.........
In the meantime, it is asking if Comox Valley has capacity at the Cumberland plant to take at least some of its "waste solids" for conversion to compost."
We may not get the hospital, or the new big box in town but at least something might come our way. Hopefully not because of the big bowl shaped thing on the connector. It is actually supposed to be a drum. Out of town waste solids? How about a solid no thanks.
