Cliff Boldt
It is almost 20 years since we moved from the mainland to Union Bay.We have never regretted the move to the valley.

For a variety of personal reasons related to our age and future needs, we moved to the city just over a year ago – we downsized.

A sidebar issue in our decision making was the way the Union Bay Improvement District was being managed.

Reading Philip Round’s article, http://bit.ly/l6Ndfr, we are breathing a sigh of relief. If we were still in Union Bay, we’d be facing a $400 + bill to pay for the way the UBID has been administered for the last few years.

$400 and counting, and absolutely nothing to show for it.

If we still lived in Union Bay, we’d be looking for some way to have former trustees and staff pay for the way they spent the landowner’s tax money.

Good luck, Union Bay landowners.

A Loss for Union Bay
Comment by Mary Reynolds on 29th May 2011
It was a sad day when Cliff and Maureen Boldt moved from Union Bay. A honorable man who was treated with disrespect simply because he asked questions, made suggestions and wanted what was best for the entire community.

Cliff started the website "Only Asking" when Union Bay was facing a referendum for municipality status in the fall of 2006. The information provided by those posting on the website opened my eyes to what was going on behind the scenes regarding KIP and the water source. It exposed the bullies and the bullshit we were being fed.

For me personally, it exposed the tactics used by the Chair, Susan Hargreaves of the Union Bay Residents Association. I was a member and when I asked a question regarding a comment left on Only Asking, I was promptly kicked out (without notice of course) of this so called residents association. Again, everyone can thank Susan Hargreaves for my involvement. I was pissed that someone would run a residents association like a private club - KIP supporters only.

Everyone knows now this association and those who formed it were just promoting KIP. If you happen to see KIP VP at a meeting, Hargreaves will be attached to his hip.

You are missed Cliff, and I owe you a big thank you for opening my eyes and making me aware of what was really going on in our little piece of paradise.

It's been a long hard battle, but now Union Bay has hope - you can feel it in the community.
