The new "Union Bay News Now" blog provides access to news and public documents regarding current issues of the community of Union Bay. The weblink is as follows: http://unionbaynewsnow.blogspot.com/2011_03_20_archive.html

The blog currently features documents regarding a potentially high profile case of freedom of speech rights in The Supreme Court of British Columbia (Action No. S-10767 - Vancouver Registry) between Alan de Jersey, David Godfrey, Denis Royer, David McDowell, James Smith, Debora McMahon also known as Debbie Prowse, Brenda Fisher, Gloria Royer and Board of Trustees of the Union Bay Improvement District ("UBID") versus Union Bay Resident Mary Reynolds.

UBID and the additional Plaintiffs are suing Mary Reynolds for defamation on her blog "All Things Union Bay" and for defamatory material on her motor vehicle.

Upwards of $20,000 of community public funds has been spent so far in legal fees in the defamation case against Resident Ms. Reynolds.

Galambos of Ganapathi & Company Lawyers represents the Union Bay Improvement District specifically as well as individuals Alan De Jersey (current UBID Trustee), David Godfrey (current UBID Trustee), Denis Royer (current UBID Trustee), James Smith (former UBID Trustee), David McDowell (former UBID Trustee), Debora McMahon (former UBID Trustee), Brenda Fisher (current UBID Administrator), Gloria Royer (current UBID employee). Current Trustees Bruce Livesey and Cleve Goldswain are not listed as Plaintiffs.

Excerpts from the "All Things Union Bay" blog appear in the Notice of Civil Claim on the new blog which discuss conflicts of interest of UBID Trustees Alan De Jersey, Denis Royer, and Debbie Prowse and the Kensington Development. Other blog excerpts include a cartoon of UBID Chair Alan de Jersey morphing into Barney Fife played by actor Don Knotts on "The Andy Griffith Show".

Jason Gratl of Gratl and Company, Vice President of the Civil Liberties Association, represents the Defendant Mary Reynolds. Ms. Reynolds, a resident of Union Bay, has also filed a Small Claims court claim at the Provincial Court of British Columbia naming UBID Trustee and Chair Alan de Jersey, UBID Trustee David Godfrey, and UBID Administrator Brenda Fisher for turning off the water to her Union Bay residence and refusing to reconnect it for three days.
