3. Unfinished Business
a. Brief brainstorming about future plans:
- Memorial garden. Judy is willing to visit site to determine appropriate locations for planting and suggestions of trees that would thrive. Committee will consider factors like former building sites, roads etc. Gardens should flow through the park in different areas, and not just be to look at but be in (e.g. include benches).
- Bridge, torii gate
- Rail grade - deep ruts, brush clearing to widen path
- Both entrances off Comox Lake in poor shape
- Parking safety issues
- Rocks at foot of No.1 mine coal hills
-"Cathedral Grove" behind Chinatown
b.2011 Budget
- David will visit each park with Kevin from Public Works. He would appreciate notes from Committee about what work we would like done.
- David will be visiting No.1 Town with the village insurance agent re: the bridge to the Souther residence. The bridge is unsafe for vehicle traffic and a sign has been posted. It's uncertain whether demolition/replacement would factor into budget allocation for Coal Creek Park.
- Fund-raising ideas brought up; importance of Park budget line for 2011.
4.New Business
a. Support for Japanese former residents homecoming 2011. Committee commends event planners on the idea but unanimous that we cannot support this event. Grace to e-mail Ray details of discussion.
5. Next Meeting: December 28
6. Motion to adjourn (Lillian)
