Seeds Natural Food Market has excelled at customer service since they opened almost 3 years ago, quickly becoming an integral part of the Cumberland community. The reason for this is their business philosophy and their staff – which is why they have recently been nominated for an award as the “Best Employer” by BC Small Business.

A small, family-owned business, staff at Seeds is considered a part of this family and it shows. Owners Tina and Jim offer regular professional growth opportunities through training initiatives. There is staff appreciation in the form of fun things - like kayaking and drinks out. Staff is offered flexible hours to accommodate personal and family obligations, with their health and happiness being taken into consideration at all times. They bring their children to work when the need arises. They are frequently given food and supplements at no cost. And they are happy – this is clearly reflected in the way that customers are treated - with genuine warmth from the moment that you walk through the door. “We think this is wonderful” owner Tina Willard-Stepan says of the nomination. “And it’s easy to be a good employer when you have such a fantastic community and such great people working for you. We are really fortunate.”

“They are leaders in their HR practices and definitely deserve recognition as the Small Business BC’s Best Employer for 2011” says staffer Marion Hoerberg of her employers. You can help them win this award by going on-line and voting for them at www.successfulyou.ca/vote in the best employer category.
