5. New Business
a. Hanson Lau Travel/ Jack Chow family visits- Grace and John met with Mr. Lau and his bus tour group on August 14. His company is interested in donating to the picnic shelter and he will endeavor to raise $2,000 to complete our funding needs. He mentioned his wish to have their lunch break in Cumberland rather than going to a restaurant in Courtenay but failure so far to attract a local business to provide what he would bill as a "miner's lunch": simple fare at a reasonable price. He also lamented the lack of adequate washroom facilities. Flo described the lunches that the O.A.P. has provided for Ron Bannerman's tours in the past and suggested approaching the OAP with this. There are also washrooms.

ACTON: Grace will approach O.A.P. and Mr. Lau.

John, May and Joyce attended the 17-member Chow family visit to Chinatown on August 15. Jack Chow grew up in Chinatown, his family running the Chow Lee General Store. The family were appreciative of the time spent hosting them and bought several t-shirts.
