This sturdy picnic table/bench unit was donated to Cumberland Chinatown in Coal Creek Historic Park. After John Leung assembled, leveled, sanded and stained it, The Sunday work party had the inaugural picnic on June 20th. It is located at the junction of Hai Gai and Shan Gai Streets where folks used to gather to read the news of the day on the community bulletin board.
This site will shortly house a picnic shelter, table and storyboards describing the life and times of this historic settlement.
Donations toward this project can be made to the Village of Cumberland, noting the picnic shelter project on the cheque. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more.
