Hey folks. I can't let this day go by without letting you know that The Cumberlander turns 3 years old today!

I've been so busy I didn't plan a party. Oh well. Maybe next year.

Anyway, looking back over the last three years I see how much this website and this community has gone through. The Cumberlander's archive of past newsletters tells the tale and if you are interested in taking the retrospective journey, here's a link to those archives.

In reading my first post to this site, it occurs to repost it now because the invitation still stands. I hope it will inspire more of you to add your own content to the site. Why not give it a try?

The Cumberlander can always use more sponsors too. It's what pays the bills and keeps the site free for public use. Do you know of a better advertising value in the Valley?

Please tell your family and friends about The Cumberlander and let's pull together to really make this website sing!

Cheers,

Dwayne Rourke
Editor/producer

Here's that first posting once again:

Welcome to www.thecumberlander.ca. It is my great pleasure to offer this new and highly interactive Internet portal to the Cumberland and Comox Valley community.

Invented by Cortes Islander Barry Saxifrage, The Cumberlander is designed to help facilitate community-building from the ground up. Have a look at how this same interactive format is serving the Cortes Island community by visiting The Tideline.

The Cumberland community will benefit from Barry's inventiveness only if you, the community, get involved! So why not give it a try? If you need more help, have a look at our Help section where you will find detailed examples of how to use the various features available.

As you will discover, options on this site are FREE for your use. All sections have instructional pull-down menus guiding you through the process of adding your unique content to this exciting community interface.

As I said, this website is free for your use. There are costs involved in its operation, however, and sponsors are needed. Sponsorship is facilitated through reasonably-priced advertising on the site. Please contact me for more information: 336 2070.

Thank you and welcome aboard!

Sincerely,

Dwayne Edward Rourke

P.S. If you would like to easily stay in touch with what's new on The Cumberlander, make sure you subscribe to our RSS feed and/or our free, weekly summary newsletter.
