A. T-SHIRT FUNDRAISER SALES
T-shirts were sold at the Cumberland Market Day (19) and at the Village Park on Empire Day (9). Fifty more shirts have been ordered, including 20XL, 20M, 10XXL. The only amount owing is for the 50 shirts. Approx. 240 shirts have been sold. 105 on hand not counting the 50 ordered. A buy one t-shirt and get free draw entry for a shirt was held on Market Day. The winner had to be in attendance at the draw time (3:30 p.m.) to win. Wayne Morrison won the t-shirt.
May – sales are going well. Reunion Picnic coming up at the end of June. Simms Millennium Park will have free booths available for non-profits at the end of May at their Community Markets on Sat. $1981.55 profit so far on the t-shirts.
B. PICNIC SHELTER UPDATE
There have been offers of volunteer help for the Picnic Shelter. The Public Works crew looked at the site. One possible shelter location has been measured out. Some brush may need to be cleared. Gravel for the site and laying out the concrete forms would be needed. The contractors should have Workers Comp. coverage. John wrote a letter of thanks to the Credit Union for their t-shirt sales assistance and the hospital laundry for the donation of $500. Seeds store was given a t-shirt (a donation from Grace) in thanks for their t-shirt sales.
C. UPDATE ON BRIDGE AND TORII GATE
No updates.
D. CHERRY TREE PROJECT
Stakes are in for 26 of the tree locations, 30 feet between trees on the lower road, upper road, along the Souther driveway, to the left up towards the coal hills and in the clearing near the pond area. Tats will consult with Manabu on the arrangement e.g. circle or corridor. Broom clearing has been happening.
E. UPDATE ON SAITO HOUSE
No update.
F. STATUS OF PARKS AND GREENWAYS
No update. A draft is available at the Village office. Park bylaws needed and a master plan will help with getting donations for the site.
NEW BUSINESS
A. QUERY FROM KATHRYN CHUNG FROM CURRENTLY CUMBERLAND
Kathryn is the editor/publisher of the community events calendar Currently Cumberland. She wondered if the group would like the work party days advertised. She is interested in future family work days to get people out into the park clearing broom etc. These would have to be organized. May be possible at a later date. Water is needed on the site for gardening.
