If you're curious why Cumberland is getting all that attention from Google, Microsoft, Sony Entertainment and so many others, it's because they are planning to put in a production studio here, most probably near Sleggs.
It is rumored that they have bought large chunks of houses in town for an upcoming sequel to the Transformers Movie.
These homes will be blown up in an action sequence to be filmed in the fall and the only delay now is obtaining the last few homes in town and waiting for the fire season to end.
Absentee buyers have been very active here in Cumberland lately as we all know. Now we know why... The people I talked to that have received offers were being told that if they breached confidentiality the deal was dead, out of fear of causing a frenzy in the real estate market...
I guess we can expect more visits from Christopher Lloyd and Ron Howard soon...

I am not easily fooled at all. As a matter of fact, I have recently had some amazing good luck. I am apparently the winner of a huge lottery and as soon as I send my bank account number, downpayment for the currency exchange, visa card number and phone number to Nigera, I can claim my prize.
"One passionate appeal I will make to you is not to discuss this matter with anybody, should you have reasons to reject this offer, please and please
destroy this message as any leakage of this information will be too bad for us.....".
gimme a break

like most i heard thir rumour and came to see it in the cumberlander, lo and behold there it was a total breach of reality
if anybody(and a lot do) believe this bs, then i'd like to show them some land i have ....apply at low tide only..
if i was guessing, this bogus nonsense was somebody's idea of a test to see how easily fooled most people are...
please stop responding to it, you're embarrassing yourselves and if mainline media picked it up cumberland would look even more ridiculous than we already do
although you have to like the idea of blowing up dodge and starting over again ...just a joke ...really!
mmm......money

This is quite amusing. We can either let someone blow up the place or let gentrification gradually homogenize the place into another flavourless anywhere. The "Transformers" are already here, sniffing around and envisioning the slicing and dicing of our community. Where are those bumper stickers when we need them?

I know of at least four people that have had offers from california and washington and when one guy called back it was a production studio of some sorts, they were also told to be discreet
and I suppose that if they paid people enough in this town you could blow up city hall, it's been done before, what the hell we could use a new one anyways
Intrigued in the village...

Oh, come on! Tell us more... Where have you heard these "rumors"? In a small community, one is prudent to check the sources when one hears something questionable, thus discerning the truth from mere gossip. We have learned the hard way that anybody can say anything for whatever reason. So... where's the documentation on this one? My husband and I have a much-loved heritage house for sale, so it would concern many if someone was trying to buy our house to "blow it up".
