Editor note: This article is in response to Bev's query, included below.

Your frog appears to be a bullfrog. Its dorsolateral fold, originating above the eye and circling around, is the distinguishing characteristic of the bullfrog. the dorsolateral fold on the green frog continues straight down to its back. The photo is a bit small, so I can't be sure, but you could probably check for yourself. By the way, if it is, in fact a bullfrog, spare it! It is a very successful species in the face of a worldwide extinction event for frogs. Although it predates on many of the localized species, they are probably on their way out anyway, and the more robust bullfrog may be the last hope for the continuation of this group of amphibians.

Bev's query:
Is anyone able to tell me whether or not this is a Green Frog or a Bullfrog? I have not heard it and it is approximately 3- 31/2" long. Have also tried to get through to the UVIC frog website with no luck.
