WE NEED YOUR HELP
Cemetery Restoration Project
We are starting project(s) to restore the following cemetery:
Cumberland Cemetery
We desperately need to protect our historic cemeteries.
Why are cemeteries valuable?
Cemeteries are valuable because they are places to remember those that have gone before. They are an expression of a particular period of history and of the people who lived it. They chronicle settlements and memorialize significant events in each community. Nearly all the monuments in a cemetery tell us some kind of genealogical information about our past. Cemeteries are a symbol of achievements of everyday people who lived, loved and worked there. Cemeteries contribute greatly to our culture. Shaping who we are now. Without them, we may forget who shaped where we are now. We may forget the pioneers of our society.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
We are looking for information about the inhabitants of the cemetery, suggestions, volunteer labour, donated money and/or donated supplies to help restore these cemeteries.
