CWAC - Richard Drake
Please find attached for distribution the relevant pages of Monday March 9th Cumberland Council Meeting, that pertain to the future of the Constructed Treatment Wetland (CTW) .

My understanding is that essentially the Council will approve removing the CTW from our sewage treatment plan, to be replaced by a) conventional treatment, b) more studies of joining a regional sewage system (the One Big Pipe Option).

The Village Engineer (McElhaney) and staff are reccommending Council approve a complete reversal in direction of our Liquid Waste Plan, and to spend the money earmarked for the CTW on another completely different system. Not only that, they plan to borrow $3.5 million (ie us taxpayers) to do this.

Concerned citizens are urged to attend this council meeting: Monday, March 9, 5:30 PM.
Spinning our wheels in sewage?
Comment by carol on 7th March 2009
We seem to spend a large amount of time in this Village planning things at great cost and then tossing the plans after. With the high unemployment in the Valley there must be more than a few folks with machines who would love to get some local work fixing up our sewage lagoon.
Glad to know that someone will be studying the studies for the planning of more studies. Is the Provincial Government making it easier or more difficult for small towns to come up with creative solutions?
Nice to see part of the agenda online, the Village website isn't working properly for agendas.

Electrocoagulation

'Electrocoagulation' on wikopedia gives some good information and indicates why the chem industry will try hard to discredit any new technology. Also search on google.
The company in Ladysmith (http://www.bclocalnews.com/vancouver_island_central/

seems to on the right track. What does Macelhanney know about them? or the DOE? All about corporate control!
